Data Protection Officer - DPO
To make data protection even more secure and effective, the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 has provided for the figure of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) or the person in charge of data security, with the following operational functions:
- inform and advise the data controller and data processor on the obligations deriving from Regulation 679/2016 or other internal or European legislative provisions on data protection;
- supervise compliance with the Regulation by the data controller and data processor in all its parts, including the attribution of responsibilities, awareness and training of personnel involved in the processing;
- provide opinions on the impact assessment upon request and monitor its performance;
- cooperate with the supervisory authority by acting, among other things, as a point of contact for issues related to processing by carrying out consultations of all kinds, with particular regard and attention to any prior consultation activity.
